The guy that will forever be referred to as Hootie – despite never being called Hootie (Hootie ended up being the nickname of the university buddy whom wore big glasses that are round – Darius Rucker has received quite the life span and job. It’s a full life designed for a nation song, in fact: growing up bad into the Southern, with a musician dad who was simply rarely house and a mom whom worked difficult to give six kiddies. Nonetheless it’s a far more interesting tale offered that Rucker has succeeded as a black colored guy in 2 musical genres – alternate stone and nation – where African-American faces are really a rarity. After growing up in Charleston, SC, Rucker headed towards the University of South Carolina in Columbia, majoring in mass communications with a fantasy to be a singer.
